About

I have always been fascinated by the art of image making. While photographs capture a visual slice of time with perfect detail… there is so much going on in the world that the camera does not capture.

With our senses we experience the wind and sun on our skin, the smell and taste of sea salt floating in the air, sand underfoot, the sound of waves gentle or crashing… birds calling, people laughing… with my digital art I bring as much of this sensory experience into an image as I can while preserving the intricate detail captured by the camera... creating pieces of art that help to tell a story.

Walking in my neighborhood, which is bordered by tidal marshes and Broad Creek, I am surrounded by birds. As constant companions I consider them my feathery friends and neighbors and of course I love to photograph them. Birds are both shy and gregarious… fragile and powerful, whimsical and serious, playful and stoic. They yell at me from time to time… and they preen in the sunshine. These delightful creatures play hide and seek among the grasses and the dunes and are a constant source of joy and interest.

"Textures of the Lowcountry" is a gallery that is full of images that are near and dear to me. Graduating with a degree in textile science I spent years living and working in the fashion Center of New York city and there is nothing that grabs my eye like an intricate pattern or texture. Here again I am surrounded by some of the most beautiful natural patterns and textures on earth and it is a continual journey to explore and find more. I look forward to growing my collection.
